A penciled composition plan sits left of a flat mountain-and-lake poster on a desk, with a pencil below; the artwork reads Plan, then render.

Canva’s first in-house image model plans a design before drawing

Canva launched Craft on October 22 and says its new research lab built the model around design layouts, text, and editability. The release also gives a rare look at the lab’s size, while its strongest rankings and quality claims still come from Canva’s own evaluation.

A multimodal agent processes a document, chart, video frame, and tool call through one model, with a separate smaller edge model shown alongside.

NVIDIA’s Nemotron 3.5 Super VL targets visual, tool-using agents

NVIDIA released a 120B-parameter model that accepts text, images, and video for workflows involving documents and tools. Its headline speed claims describe specific vendor tests, while an independent benchmark measures a different slice of the model’s performance.

An abstract model connects to three labeled cards: API with Wonder only; Muse Code with Wonder for all plans and Full for Power or Maximum; and a dashed Muse app route labeled Announced for later.

Meta’s Muse Wonder models target personal and professional agents

Meta introduced Wonder and Wonder Full on October 12, then updated its developer documentation with clearer routes and plan limits. The distinction that matters is which model a person can actually access, through which product, and under what data-use setting.

Conceptual diagram of an answer about a seven-speed bicycle with selectable component labels and a simple adjustable control.

GPT-6 can turn a ChatGPT answer into a small interactive tool

OpenAI’s new interface can show diagrams, controls, charts, and calculators inside a reply. The feature changes how an answer is explored, while its figures still need ordinary checking.

A stack of mathematical manuscripts is organized into result families, with one proof page marked for human review and a separate Lean formalization sheet.

OpenAI’s mathematics release needs readers to check each claim

OpenAI’s October 6 repository is a collection of AI-produced mathematical manuscripts, not a single verified result. By October 23, the strongest independent assessment we found concerned one quasi-Riemann result: mathematicians interviewed by Quanta largely agreed with a shorter proof, while at least one prominent number theorist still wanted humans to check and understand every detail.

Two stylized magnetic-field surfaces show a symmetric pattern beside a new asymmetric shape, with a small equation sheet marked for simulation-code benchmarking.

Gemini 4 Argon helped widen exact stellarator benchmarks

A Google DeepMind team and University of Maryland professor Matt Landreman published two new families of exact three-dimensional magnetic-equilibrium solutions that break stellarator symmetry. Their October preprint says Gemini agents proposed the generalizations; the authors independently re-derived and checked every derivation.

Conceptual comparison of a focused everyday task card beside a larger complex project card, with speed and cost shown as separate gauges.

Claude Sonnet 5.5 trades top-tier scope for everyday speed

Anthropic positions Sonnet 5.5 for coding, documents, and other well-scoped work. Its per-token price matches Sonnet 5, while the company says it uses fewer tokens per task and adds cyber safeguards.

An open album of generic landscape photos sits among five tool cards; a separate card shows portrait selection, with Wardrobe, Moods, Remix, and Markup cards nearby.

Google Photos’ September update has five features and five rollout rules

Google’s September 24 update combines a Gemini Spark connection, a digital Wardrobe, Moods, Remix templates, and Markup changes. The features do not share one availability rule: the AI plan, country, operating system, age, and rollout stage all matter.
